Digital Hearing Aids- New Technology Loud & Clear

It seems that hearing aids are being offered in newer styles and sizes everyday; analogue hearing aids, and digital hearing aids are getting small, and more advanced due to the miniaturization of electronic components.
The main difference between analogue Hearing aid, which is the traditional hearing aid system, and the newer digital hearing aid is the new technology, is in the way that they exchange sound. Analogue converts sound waves to electrical waves while digital transfers sound waves using exact mathematical calculations that are processed by a computer.

Programmable analogue hearing aids are outfitted with different programs that are saved inside of the hearing aid. These programs are then switched depending on the listening environment a person is in at the moment. As an example, one program will work in a conversation, while the other may work best while in a lecture hall, or movie theater setting. Many people prefer digital hearing aids as they have an ability to generate–as well as to process–sound.

How Do Digital Hearing Aids Work?

  • Digital hearing aids convert sound to digital code, change it and re-transmit it back by using mathematical calculations.

I’ve been reading the various topics herin and come up emty handed for help in how to make an intelligent decision for aiding hearing loss. So far my loss of hearing has taken me to 3 hearing specialist. The first sold me a device that fit into my ear which required monthly and later semi monthly visits for adjust-ments. This office closed after my first year of use, which was ok with me due to total waste of time & money. Next I visited an Audiologist who refered me to an ear nose throat specialist where I’ve undergone several more tests and now
waiting an MRI appointment (may be a tumor). Frankly, I am rapidly approaching the analysis that hearing specialists belong to the “quack” industry. I would appreciate any reasuring words of advice that I am on the right path.
