Playing with earplugs To Save Your Hearing
Playing with earplugs – Is loosing your hearing considered metal?
Can playing with earplugs save your hearing?
Information On Sudden Hearing loss
You glanced at the title and thought ‘the music I love is suppose to be loud enough to make me deaf anyway! of course heavy metal needs to be turned up to eleven so your neighbors can share in the experience. So we cant have it loud AND protect our hearing at the same time? Without ear plugs, it will mean that by the time were becoming thirty and forty we will be loosing our hearing. It’d be nice to retain my hearing so that when Iget old i can still listen to it and play it. ‘That’s not rock and roll’ you must be saying by now -consider that i like being able to hear people talking to me and listening to the music i love. So many people i know have lost a lot of hearing in one of their ears, so what will happen when they finally go deaf- A hearing aid will then be their only option. We’ve all lost some hearing -mine isn’t perfect after years of subjecting it to Kataklysm and My dying bride.
Many performers are using ear plugs anyway, half the time their hair is hiding the earplugs from view – so if they can protect their hearing why cant you? Everyone else can go deaf in five or ten years time if they want -but you can make the decision not too. Besides, if your considering a career in music, then the longer you get to keep your hearing for than the longer you get to do that career -a bit hard to carry on once your hearings gone- unless your beethoven.
Whose going to know that your using earplugs during band rehearsal anyway? The other three, four or five members of your band, who are probably using ear plugs to. Your not the only one concerned about their hearing, plus it takes two seconds to fit some foam earplugs in and away you go.
Plus its another reason to turn up the volume isnt it? Need some hearing protection or digital hearing aids

The downside of earbud also is the fact that they let in too much outside noise, and this can result people turning the volume up higher than they should.

I agree with the above post. Personally I cannot see why you would not want to make an effort in this regard anyway. Only the other day, at work we had exactly the same conversation and came to a similar closing
