In the ear headphones as opposed to the earbud have a cone or beveled cone shaped soft rubber, or silicone piece that fits inside the ear canal. In the ear headphones let less outside noises into the ear canal, but much less than earbuds as they provide a better seal of the ear canal, as earbuds do not. "One Earbud At A Time"
There are 2 ways to put in your ear buds, and 4 ways to put "in the ear" headphones.
- Grab both ear pieces and push them in from the side. Don’t do this. You should always come in to your ear at an angle. Coming straight in from the side can bruise, scrape, and cause irritation to the ear if done frequently.
- Take both ear pieces one in each hand, and angling them back toward your head bring them into your ear, and twist your hand slightly as you gently guide them into the outer ear for ear buds, and into the ear canal for in the ear headphones.
- Take one earpiece at a time, and angling back toward your head insert by turning, and giving your hand a twist, use your thumb to give them a slight push to secure. Repeat for other ear.
Take your opposite hand and put it over your head, and pull slightly up on the outside of the ear. Take the earpiece in the other angled back toward the head, and place the ear piece in the ear giving it a good twist, or rotation back and for until it feels secure, and use your thumb to make seal tight.
How To CleanYour Earbuds and other in the ear devices
Take anti-bacterial wipes, and squeeze them out. Now use them to wipe down the headphones or ear buds. If there is a lot of ear wax in the earbuds you can use a soft dry tooth brush, but don’t use water on the ear buds. In the ear headphones and be removed and washed with soap and water, and left to dry. Antibacterial wipes work well for a quick clean in between washings.

Hey, since we’re on the subject of headphones and whatnot, anybody know of a way to keep the cords from tangling every time I put ‘em in my pocket, bag, leave them around, or whatever else? Those things get tangled no matter what I do with them >.>
